China will promote inclusive sharing to ensure that the benefits of innovation in food security are shared more widely and fairly among Asia-Pacific economies and their people, according to the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.
Liu Huanxin, head of the administration, put forward proposals on food security, a shared concern among Asia-Pacific economies, at the APEC high-level public-private dialogue on food security on Thursday.
Stressing the importance of digital empowerment, he said China will promote the large-scale application of innovation across the food supply chain and expand the use of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and smart processing across this sector.
He also called for closer cooperation among government departments, businesses, research institutions and international organizations to promote open and mutually beneficial cooperation in food security.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), China kept its domestic grain market broadly stable and deepened international cooperation in the food sector, contributing to food security across the Asia-Pacific and beyond, the official noted.
Over the next five years, China will continue to enhance its overall food production capacity and strengthen its ability to safeguard national food security, he said.
The dialogue, held in the coastal city of Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Thursday, drew nearly 150 representatives from government departments, business associations, research institutions and international organizations of APEC economies.

B |     김회천 한수원 신임사장 기장 방문…고리 2·3·4호기 상생지원금 배분·건식저장시설·SMR 등 논의기장군이 고리 2·3·4호기 계속운전 상생협력지원금 배분을 둘러싼 지역 갈등과 사용후핵연료 건식저장시설, 혁신형 소형모듈원자로(i-SMR) 사업 등 원전 현안에 대해 한국수력원자력의 적극적인 개입과 주민 중심의 상생대책 마련을 요구하고 나섰다. 26일 기장군은 지난 25일 우성빈 기장군수와 김회천 한수원 신임 사장이 고리원전을 둘러싼 주요 현안에 대해 논의했다고 밝혔다. 이날 우성빈 기장군수는 고리 2·3·4호기 계속운전 상생협력지원금 배분 문제와 관련해 지역의 우려와 갈등 상황을 전달하고 한수원의 적극적인 역할을 요청했다.                    ▲우성빈 기장군수(오른쪽 두 번째)가 25일 기장군청을 방문한 김회천 한국수력원자력 신임 사장(왼쪽 두 번째)과 고리원전 주요 현안에 대해 논의하고 있다.ⓒ기장군 우 군수는 "상생협력지원금의 협의 절차와 배분 기준을 둘러싼 지역사회의 우려가 커지면서 주민 간 갈등과 반목이 심화되고 있다"며 "한수원이 보다 적극적으로 나서 공정하고 합리적인 대책을 마련해야 한다"고 강조했다. 이어 "사용후핵연료 건식저장시설 건설과 관련한 지원 및 상생방안에 대한 지자체와의 실질적인 사전 협의가 필요하다"고 입장을 전달했다. 또 군은 고준위 방사성폐기물 관리에 관한 특별법에 따른 주민의견 수렴에 앞서 고준위관리위원회와 지자체, 한수원이 참여하는 협의체를 구성하고 지역 주민들이 납득할 수 있는 구체적인 상생방안을 마련해야 한다고 요구했다. 한수원이 추진하고 있는 혁신형 소형모듈원자로(i-SMR) 초도호기 사업과 관련한 MOU 체결에 대해서도 주민과의 충분한 소통이 우선돼야 한다는 입장을 분명히 했다. 이에 대해 김회천 한수원 사장은 "지역의 다양한 현안과 주민들의 목소리를 무겁게 듣겠다"며 "고리 2․3․4호기 계속운전 상생협력지원금 배분과 관련한 지역 상황을 면밀히 살피고 원만한 해결을 위해 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다. 또 "SMR 주민 설명회 개최 등 이날 제기된 현안에 대해서도 “기장군과 긴밀히 사전 협의하겠다"고 말했다. 끝으로 우 군수는 "원전과 함께 살아가는 기장군민들이 소외감과 상실감을 갖지 않도록 군민의 이익과 지역사회의 화합을 최우선 가치로 삼겠다"며 "한수원도 지역 갈등 해결의 중요한 당사자로서 주민들과 더욱 적극적으로 소통하고 오늘 논의된 사항들이 실질적인 해결책으로 이어질 수 있도록 직접 관심을 갖고 챙겨달라"고 당부했다.。
